Re: Wii Fit Plus Review (10 months ago)
I just have to say: Wii Fit Plus is excellent! And a bargain at that price (not to mention most places have it on sale for less).
The new games are quite fun, and if you get into some of them, you'll work up a bit of a sweat (or maybe that's just fat slobs like me).
There are also several small improvements, which are just a nice bonus. You can change the finishing time of a day to 3am (perfect for me on night shift when I finish at 1am), shortcuts to jump straight into the BMI/weight test if you don't want to do the balance tests each day, and if you desire, you can also test the balance tests.
I can only see 2 downsides to this "game", both relating to limitations of new features. You can only create custom workouts for yoga and muscle workouts, not any of the aerobic activities. And the multiplayer isn't for everything, only for 9 out of all the activities, which is a bit of a shame.

And now on the iPhone too! I guess that will have DS-like controls, and PSP-like graphics?
Re: Plants vs. Zombies coming to Xbox Live Arcade (1 year ago)
Yeah, are you guys going to review it?
Re: Wii Sports Resort bargain round-up (1 year ago)
It may also be worth mentioning (from the latest Gaming Bargains) that Grand Slam Tennis (with Wii MotionPlus peripheral) is also available as a 2-game trade-in deal from JB.
Certainly that's my way of thinking anyway... I can walk into JB with 4 pre-loved games, and come out with 2 MotionPlus adaptors as well as 2 compatible games, with no money changing hands...

Re: Australian Gaming Bargains - 16/07/09 (1 year ago)
Can you get the Wii MotionPlus adaptors on their own anywhere? I can't seem to find them. Looks like the RRP is $29.95 (from that article on here a few weeks ago), but I can't find out where I can get them from!
Edit: I just went through the bargain round-ups from the last few weeks, and it looks like most places did indeed have them at RRP, except JB which seemed to price them the same as nunchuks ($27) when they have a sale. In this weeks listing, the nunchuks are still $27 from JB, but MotionPlus are not listed there at all, from JB or from any other retailer?

Re: E3 2009: EA takes on MMA (1 year ago)
Wow, how niche!
I guess it goes to show how big the gaming market is, if they have the market there to sell such a title to!
I didn't even known what "MMA" stood for before it was mentioned in the article.

And lets face it the graphics quality will be completely **** with a res of only 1280x720 (seriously, games 10 years ago were REQUIRING higher resolutions than that as a minimum, see railroad tycoon 2 from 1998) and there's going to be compression artifacts on it too, especially in fast action games.
Re: Australian Gaming Bargains - 26/12/08 (1 year ago)
Man, that JB Hi-Fi Xbox 360 price is a killer! I saw the ad on TV for it yesterday, and did a double take. I was hoping for the ad to come on again so I could confirm what I thought I saw. Then I remembered that it would probably be on Joseph's list!
Are Playstation 2's still $199? If so, I think the current Xbox 360 Arcade price (and even lower sales) should switch off its life support.

Re: Secret of Mana for Virtual Console (1 year ago)
Not a problem. Thanks for the prompt response as always.
Maintaining the bargains list would almost be a full-time job, with the addition of other reviews and the like anyway, so it's an understandable situation.
To be honest, I forgot about it, and haven't been into the shop channel for months (not since I downloaded Bomberman Blast anyway). But it was always nice having a quick little round-up of what was released, saving the rest of us from having to go in and have a look. I guess too, the PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace could do with some brief coverage on each release day, as their used to be.
We really appreciate all you guys do for us, considering how much it costs us to view this site!

It's interesting that GH:WT isn't listed in the PS2 sales. The amount of people i saw walking out with it on the weekend was heaps surprising. I was in JB for 20 mins max, and 4 people walked out with a ps2 version of it.

Mega drive more powerful than the SNES
wikipedia wrote
The design of the Super NES incorporates a relatively slow CPU (half the speed of the Mega Drive), but the powerful graphics and sound co-processors allowed impressive tiling and Mode 7 effects, many times more colors, and audio quality that represented a massive leap over the competition.[53] Individual game cartridges can easily supply further custom chips as needed.
Anyhow, regardless, as you say, the Mega Drive games never really put the core grunt into use, and SNES stuff always seemed to perform or feel better for multi-platform games, hence my surprise and shock at that earlier statement.

Re: GTA IV PC release date pushed back (1 year ago)
Bah! Oh well, it's only a shortly extended wait, compared to how long we've waited since the console version was released...
Those recommended requirements are pretty huge... triple or quad-core CPU - there won't be too many people with those at this stage. I think i'll be struggling with my AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.0Ghz and NVIDIA 8500GT graphics... I have to convince the wife I need a new video card!

Don't be fooled by the hype. Impulse is their buggy version of Steam (it's DRM) and the game requires a CD key at install (also DRM). For a game supposedly without DRM, it sure has a lot of DRM.

I don't think anybody has ever considered that typing in a serial number is unreasonable. It's only more recent developments like activation and copy protection though deserve all the fire you can throw at it!

Re: Virtual Console updated (1 year ago)
Why have SF2:CE and Turbo both available? Is there anything different/better in the Sega version other than having the option of playing with 3 buttons?

What's the difference between Rayman Raving Rabbids 3 and TV Party? Aren't they one and the same thing?
Re: Virtual Console updated (1 year ago)
Interesting that they went to MegaDrive Earthworm Jim rather than the SNES version.
Has anybody played both, and if so is one version better than the other?

Re: Mega Man 9 Review (1 year ago)
So, this may be a stupid question given the retro-ness (to invent a word)and hardness mentioned, but does the game have a save feature (or even level passwords), or is it back to the beginning when you run out of lives?
