7am, Mitcham Station today. Great start to the morning.

Having done both styles of tertiary, a 75% TAFE mark is far easier than a 50% Uni mark. Just rocking up at TAFE pretty much meant I was going to pass.
My course had at least one test every week and you pretty much had to be able to regurgitate the books on command to pass them. If you failed one test, you'd have to sit two the next week, if you failed that same one again you failed that subject. I'm pretty sure only about a quarter of the people who started when I did graduated at the end of the two years.

After helping people with their Uni work the only difference in difficulty I've seen is that you have fluff your assignments with BS in order to make the word count. What, are they training you to be politicians or something?

Nope, that's correct.

50% is a Pass.
60% is a Credit.
70% is a Distinction.
80% is a High Distinction.
icon_eek.gif For my diploma course at TAFE the pass mark was 75% and the penalties for not handing stuff in were 10% per weekday. I was rejected from going to Uni because I never bothered to do work at High School but Uni seems to reward you for doing the same. Great system.

ahhh, anyone else just see that rocket launch or whatever it was on the horizon in the east over Melbs....that was odd.
Looking over at the MCG this morning as i do when i cross the princes bridge...i noticed a streak heading up towards the sky....had a bulbous head and a long tail...so from around 7:20am to 7:29 am this streak kept heading up till the tail disappeared and the head went off into space...
Oh wow, I missed that, it would have been right behind me as I was walking through Gooch's Paddock at that time towards the gardens. Around that time there was a very, very low 747 scooting across the sky heading towards the bay. So perhaps there was something odd there.

We used to drive around toowoomba blasting classical music out of cars
Once I get a car I had been planning on doing this but replace toowoomba with Chapel St (travel between the two campuses I work at requires "Chap laps"). I'm slightly miffed I wasn't the first to think of it.
Re: Computer Build (3 months ago)
The Core i5 650 contains a graphics processing unit. If she's only doing 2D and modest 3D games you won't need a separate graphics card.
You know what the bummer is, Conroy is not up for reelection. As far as everything else is concerned apart from the filter, Rudd's government hasn't upset me more than anticipated. I cannot vote for the Liberals because they want to destroy Australia's economy. I'll decide who I'll vote for after they start sending marketing in the mail.

I was thinking approx. $2000.
Other than Starcraft 2, what do you want to do? Odds are that your current computer will run that game acceptably.

...has 3D ever been tested on animals?
Doesn't work on birds that's for sure. Human eyes perceive smooth movement at 24 Hz, the current (rubbish) TV implementation of 3D requires at least 120 Hz which is five times higher than that threshold. Pigeons have eyesight that's at least four times better than ours (which is why the bastards leave it till the last minute to get out of the way of cars). So in order to test it on them you need a refresh rate upwards of 480 Hz. Factoring in a high enough resolution image at the correct DPI for the pigeons to see them makes the bandwidth required slightly boggling.

Wow I'm actually really surprised that the prices are so low! Especially when you consider AT&T charges $15 USD for a mere 250MB.
But $30 for unlimited. Some guy is testing if it is truly unlimited, used 31 gigs in two days so far. Which means that 3G in the US is faster than my internet is now :\
You must have a REALLY bad connection. You can burn over 10 GB in a day with 1.5 Mbps (The maths, if done correctly states 16.2 GB).

Try being with Three and then come back and discuss if Telstra or Optus is better icon_razz.gif . Even in metro/CBD Three is awful.
In Melbourne, 3 is King. Most people I know tend to be with Optus and constantly complain about how they have little or no reception. I'm with 3 and even though since their announced partnership with Vodaphone they've been slowly getting worse but I still get 3G reception where Optus has none at all.
Only reliable way to get them is Amazon I'm afraid. I've been looking at the higher up ones (X51s?) but can't find anywhere closer to home that stocks them.
Re: IPAD THREAD (4 months ago)
$60-70 more is gouging? An Xbox 360 Elite with two game bundle is over $100 less than an Elite without games here. Considering our weak market power it's not a bad price.

Damn you stealth editing while I'm posting.
Pokemon or The Sims should be number 1 and the other coming at 2. Final Fantasy and Halo coming up next. The Legend of Zelda, Guitar Hero, Super Mario Bros., Grand Theft Auto, Need for Speed and Call of Duty making out the top 10.

Now I don't like most of those games but logically the order of the top Franchises (at least three or more games) should be somewhat like that. That other list was obviously generated by people who don't know what a franchise is.
^ School holidays lets us use the 103" Plasma or the 200" projector screen with 7.2 surround icon_wink.gif Too bad the only games we can play is pretty much Wii Sports.

You clearly have me on terms of distance to work though. I travel for an hour and a half one way. Battling Metro's incompetence all the way. Wednesday Had me take an extra 45 minutes to each trip because of maintenance failures at my station requiring walking to the next station. Walking for that long at 6 a.m. is not fun at all.

Gamer zone = Recreation. Professional is okay but there's still a fair bit of trash talking. Underground might as well be named Kindergarden. People tend to forget that the zone affects who you're matched against.

I'm spoiled. I live right around the corner from work so I just go home for lunch.
I can top that, my work provides a cooked three course lunch during school terms.

What ticks me off, I was hit way too many times to the most sensitive area today. Once by a laptop, once by a brand new laptop in a box, once by a cork shot out of a champaign bottle and then by a woman's handbag on the train. On top of that I had to do an hour's overtime.

Is the beta worth scabbing codes for?

I read about a guy's experience reminding him of what put him off Halo 3- the players.

More specifically, the players with microphones. >_>
If you have ODST you can already play. As for people with microphones I don't see how Halo 3 is any different to Modern Warfare or any other game. I actually find that there are more disagreeable people in other games than I do in Halo. Maybe that guy is one of the people who does bad mouth and people were only reacting to him.

From those stills it looks like a scene from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: "Adam has committed a terrible crime and has been sentenced to death, however he's been able to choose the method of his own demise."

I find that amusing, "Does the 5850 do 3D?"
Just putting it out there... My six year old Apple iMac came preinstalled with a game that did 3D, of course only the Power Macs at the time actually had the graphics cards (NVIDIA Quatro) with the stereoscopic outputs to control the glasses in order for it to fully work but my iMac was able to get 30 fps while running the game in 3D mode.

So the answer is: If my six year old iMac can do it, I'm pretty sure a 5850 can do it too.
I won't believe this until the day it hits shelves, Blizzard are nearly as bad as Polyphony with release dates...
Had the ambos called and then had to go to hospital last night. Looks like I have some unexplainable issue that is going to cause me a few issues in the future.

Got home today and discover my wireless router has given up and my longest Ethernet cable is damaged in multiple locations rendering is not repairable. I tether my iPhone to get the internet and suddenly Windows decides to download a tonne of updates.
I have a 5850. It's a great, great card. I wouldn't be touching NVIDIA with a 10ft pole at the moment, they may have a performance crown at the moment but they're Intel in their Netburst stage. Everything from the 8000 to the 300 series have been virtually the same with increased clocks, die shrinks and upgraded memory buses. The 400 series are power hungry beasts that barely have an edge over the 5000 series cards from AMD.
More than happy to, I don't know any free public access upload sites for audio though. If anyone can point me to one I'll upload and share.
Well I cannot play Audiosurf or Beat Hazard as those games cannot execute on my computer. I think there may be a few others who can't either. However Source based games do run on my computer.
My 3GS's mic works fine. Picks up voices quite clearly, the mic is located in one of the speaker holes in the bottom so make sure you don't have those covered.
Cake making/baking competition. Everyone makes a cake and takes a photo of it with a PALGN logo plus date on it. Best cake wins?
Sounds decent, first MMO I've actually been interested in playing. The twenty hours thing sounds great considering I get about two-three waking hours tops at home on a work day.
The outright purchase price is cheaper but after that they have astronomical taxes on top of it to pay ever year like we pay "Rates". So purchasing a $250,000 house means you need to pay $10,000-15,000 in taxes to cover maintaining the local facilities, even if you don't use them. That adds up, also buying a $500,000 house here should get you somewhere decent, as opposed to somewhere like Texas in America.
